Plats: Göteborg
Would you like to improve your Swedish in a real, friendly social setting while doing something meaningful for others?
As a shadow volunteer in Cycling Without Age in Bergsjön, you will follow an experienced volunteer and get a safe, supportive introduction to one of the Red Cross’s most appreciated community activities.
You don’t need to be perfect – you just need to be willing to join in.
What is the assignment about?
Every Wednesday, 10:00–12:00, we meet at the Church of Sweden in Bergsjön. Together we create a welcoming space where older adults can enjoy social time, coffee, and – if they wish – beautiful bicycle rides in the local area.
We use a modern and safe electric trishaw with a comfortable front seat for two passengers. The rides are always adapted to the wishes and energy of the participants.
When the weather does not allow cycling, we spend time indoors with coffee, conversation, and board games.
What does a shadow volunteer do?
As a shadow volunteer, you will:
- Follow an experienced volunteer step by step
- Practice Swedish in real social situations
- Can ride a bicycle (training on the electric bike is provided)
- Meet new people in a safe and supportive environment
- Learn the role gradually, at your own pace
No perfect Swedish is required – the most important thing is your willingness to participate and connect with others.
